Intensive Care Medicine or Critical Care Medicine is a branch of medicine, concerned with the diagnosis and management of life-threatening conditions requiring sophisticated organ support and invasive monitoring.
CRITICAL CARE technicians ASSISTANTS are trained professionals who respond quickly and competently to medical emergencies.
They are tasked with caring for the critically injured and ill. Assistants and professionals working in critical care receive targeted education to help them for the responsibilities of their positions.
Programs are designed to train and certify them in airway management and ventilation, emergency pharmacology, and obstetrical emergencies etc.
They are also trained to ensure the safe and effective use of technological systems used in the care of critically ill patients. They work alongside doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff in often-pressurized conditions.
There is a lot of contact with patients and distressed relatives.
The role involves assisting doctors in procedures performed on ICU patients, cleaning, servicing and calibrating equipment, setting up and operating it, monitoring it during use and regularly checking readings.
Other tasks include dealing with sales representatives, ordering equipment and consumables such as medical gases and fluids from the pharmacy, and routine administration tasks such as processing related invoices and paperwork.
They may be responsible for quality control, management of relevant equipment
